FORMATION
When magma is placed under extreme pressure it solidifies and produces
granite. Magma is lighter than the surrounding rocks and it begins to rise
and cool. The cooling process is a slow one and as the granite cools
crystals begin to form below the earth’s surface. The result of the cooled
magma is a tightly interlocked structure, which results in granite’s well
known strength. Mostly quartz, plagioclase feldspar and alkali feldspar
make up granite. The earth’s crust is made up by a considerable amount of
granite and is frequently revealed when the landscape is broken as a
result of continental shifts.
GRANITE FACTS

stone.
- The mineral composition of each piece of granite allows for many
patterns and colours to be used.
